Belgian Steven Dillen and local Antònia Siquier were the overall winners of the “La Bola-Subida al Puig Major” cycling race, held this morning. Nearly 500 riders participated in the climb to the summit of Mallorca, conquering the Bola del Puig Major, 1,436 meters above sea level. With a time of 1h08:59 in the timed section, Steven Dillen beat Antoni Perelló by just six seconds. Javier Tenorio finished third, just over a minute behind the winner. Among the women, Antònia Siquier won with a time of 1h22:07, ahead of the 2024 winner, Yessica Pérez, and Margalida Perelló, who repeated her third place finish from last year.
Nearly 500 riders set off at 8:30 a.m. from the Specialized Mallorca store in the Son Rossinyol industrial estate to tackle the 51.5-kilometer climb to the Bola del Puig Major. Along the route, participants faced a neutralized section, like a cycle tour, with all participants grouped together at the same average speed of 25 km/h to the Sóller Fire Department. The 29.3-kilometer timed section then began, to the Bola del Puig Major, with an intermediate checkpoint located at the Military Base, where the final seven kilometers of the climb were timed. In this final timed section, Steven Dillen was also the fastest, with a time of 26:37, while Antònia Siquier, with a time of 32:54, was the fastest to complete the final seven kilometers of the climb to the Bola del Puig Major.

The participants enjoyed a great day of cycling and had the unique opportunity to conquer the highest peak in Mallorca, a peak not open to road traffic for military security reasons. The day concluded at the CEIP Son Puig de Sóller facilities with a meal, a trophy presentation, and a raffle for prizes, including a high-end Tarmac SL8 bicycle, courtesy of Specialized Mallorca, valued at €7,000.

This event would not have been possible without the permits and collaboration of the ACAR PUIG MAJOR – EVA 7 Air Barracks, led by Commander María Cruz Acero, who opened their facilities for one day so participants could enjoy a unique climb.
